Today started with a drive south to beautiful Woody Point.
Like most villages we’ve encountered, the fishing activity never stops.
Even though it’s primarily for kids, the Gros Morne Discovery Center helped me understand the geological history behind the incredible landscapes we’ve encountered. Plus the displays were cool.
And finally we did something only possible in Newfoundland; we hiked directly on the earth’s mantle. That’s right. The layer between the crust and the outer core.
It’s fully exposed in a small area called the Tablelands. And you can hike through it!
Nothing will grow on the mantle itself, so it feels like walking on another planet.
Fletcher enjoyed it too. His dedicated mission was to pee on every bit of exposed mantle. He did a fine job.
And then he crashed out in the Jeep on the way back to camp. Perfection!
